Choral Singing for Seniors – Episode 2: Summer Trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens

In July, the sun was warm and the greenery was abundant. On July 10, 2025, the second outing activity of the “Happy Singing·Healthy and Healthy” series hosted by Qingsong Media was held as scheduled at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Dozens of elders from the community spent a wonderful time of relaxation and vitality in the natural fragrance of flowers and the warmth of laughter.

This activity focused on the four core sections of “scientific breathing, vocal training, movement practice and social interaction”, continuing the course concept of the first phase, while walking out of the classroom, getting close to nature, and going deep into the garden and flower environment, so that music and greenery are intertwined, creating an offline interactive platform for the elderly that integrates health knowledge, artistic experience and emotional communication.

At 11 a.m., the event team arrived at the Royal Botanic Gardens. The members slowly got off the car in the breeze and walked into the park with bright smiles on their faces. Under the guidance, everyone took a group photo in front of the fountain and the banner was unfolded, which became a beautiful starting point for this journey.

Then, the team walked slowly along the path in the rose garden. The blooming roses were stacked layer by layer, as if they were also listening to the footsteps and exchanging laughter. The camera was fixed on the warm moments under the shade of flowers and plants: some people lowered their heads to smell lightly, some stopped to take pictures, and some walked side by side and whispered softly.

Under the guidance of professional vocal teachers, the elders practiced their voices easily and interacted with scientific breathing

In a relaxed environment, the activity entered the core link – teaching singing. Led by professional vocal teachers, the elders conducted breathing training and vocal interaction, and applause, singing and laughter came one after another, becoming the most moving scenery in the garden. The group photo with the banner specially set up for the event was also completed at this time, leaving an unforgettable commemorative moment for the group.

In the afternoon, everyone walked to the second stop of this event, the famous Rock Garden in the Royal Botanical Gardens. Here, there are rich layers and wildness, with small bridges, flowing water, stone steps and flower beds scattered in an orderly manner, and nature and humanity complement each other. The members strolled in the garden, took photos, relaxed and toured, enjoying the summer greenery and fragrance of flowers.

Afterwards, everyone sat in the lounge area, shared refreshments and talked freely. The elders greeted each other and made new friends in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, which was filled with the warmth and companionship of the community.

During the free exchange time, the elders took group photos, waved to the mirror, and took selfies. Every smile was frozen in the sunshine and the shadows of the flowers. The event ended successfully with laughter and farewells.

The “Choral Singing for Seniors” project was established under the background of the advocacy of the Canadian federal and Ontario aging policies, aiming to improve the quality of life of the elderly in the community, pay attention to physical and mental health, and enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the elderly. Through this series of activities, Qingsong Media continues to explore the “art + health + social” integration model, allowing music therapy to truly enter the community and approach the elderly, injecting fresh energy into building a warm, diverse and dignified life for the elderly.
